Thornhill is truly the jewel of the Karoo. The game hunting and viewing with Ferdie were fantastic, the accommodations unparallel in beauty and comfort, and Matilda’s cuisine put the best chefs in Europe to shame. Thornhill is truly the finest hunting lodge I've visited. First and foremost, it sits on a ranch with game galore. A close second is the food and hospitality. Matilda can cook anything. I can still taste the fresh fruit at breakfast and the delicious spring buck at dinner.

Merely calling Thornhill a five-star resort doesn't do it justice.

Alexander, 12, is over the moon about his Blesbok and I shot a superb Blue Wildebeest. Katie had a few shots but will have to wait until next time to be "blooded".

Mathilda and Ferdi are adorable, and could not have been better hosts and kinder people. The rest of the staff, Desmond, Isaac, Sam, Maria etc, are also fabulous and the food and service are world-class.
